| The Secret Life of Trees Journal Saturday, September 11th, 2010 from 10:00am to 5:00pm OR Wednesday, September 22nd and 29th from 9:00am to 12:30pm ![]() For in the true nature of things, if we rightly consider, every green tree is far more glorious than if it were made of gold and silver. Martin Luther For me, making time to create is making time to listen to your deep inner voice. It is sacred time when you honor yourself and allow yourself to play. In this workshop, I will demonstrate new techniques that will include foil images, transfers and resist techniques, which you can incorporate to make your own unique book of the secret life of trees: chronicling their shape, their texture, what lives in them, the shape of their leaves. We will use branches and bark on our covers. I'll provide everything you need for this project but you are welcome to bring any of your own tree related images or objects you'd like to include in your book. Cost $90 including all supplies, lunch, teas and snacks. |
Exploring Creativity through Photography Sunday, September 19th, October 3rd and October 17th, 2010 from 2:00pm to 4:30pm
![]() At the root of creativity is an impulse to understand, to make sense of random and often unrelated details. For me, photography provides an intersection of time, space, light and emotional stance. One needs to be still enough, observant enough, and aware enough to recognize the life of the materials, to be able to "hear through the eyes". Paul Caponigro In this series of three classes we explore what it means to be a photographer and different ways to use the photographs we make so that they are shared and seen by others. We also explore ideas to improve the images we create and suggest ways to photograph with new eyes. We talk about the elements of design and color, and experiment with in class projects as well as create a collaborative photo art journal which includes photographs we have all taken. Any kind of digital camera may be used in class. Cost $90 for all three sessions.. |

Your Intentions Sunday, September 26th, 2010 from 2:00pm to 6:00pm ![]() Imagination is everything. It is the preview of life's coming attractions. Albert Einstein If I hadn't put "Book Proposal" as one of my Visual Intentions I doubt that I would have been working on my book this summer. Creating a visual map of what you want you life to look like is very powerful. In this relaxing workshop you will create a set of nine mini collages with words so that you have a visual dream board of personal intentions for living the life you want for yourself. Even if you are not sure of where you want to go, the process of looking through images will help you clarify your dreams as your unconscious is pulled towards those images that resonate on a deep level. We will turn your mini collages into a creative piece of art that you can frame and hang in a space you pass often each day. This dream board is a constant visual reminder of what you want to attract into your life that will work on your unconscious mind as you glance at it. Cost $45 including all supplies needed to create your visual dream board. For returning students who want set new intentions, the cost is $25. |

Using images from magazines, individuals create their own unique deck of cards, where each card represents a different aspect of themselves. There is a deeper level of knowing that is accessed through images. The process combines image, words, intuition, and synchronicity into a unique creative and artistic process that anyone can do. It requires no special skills, but can often produce images and insights that are surprising and full of depth and meaning. SoulCollage ® works directly with the language of symbols, images and archetypes. In this workshop you will make a number of your very own SoulCollage® cards and learn to use the cards for self-discovery. Cost: $35 This class is also open to students who have already taken a SoulCollage class with Catherine and would like to continue working on their SoulCollage cards. The cost for returning students is $20 All the supplies you need to create your cards are provided. <>Turning 50: Exploring the Doorway to the Wisdom Years with SoulCollage® 2010 is a great year for turning 50, so let’s celebrate by exploring the hidden parts of ourselves that we would like to welcome into the second half of our lives. Jumpstart your Creativity ![]() Each of us is born to create. Every living being has some gift to express that will benefit the whole ..." Jan Phillips Many of us have creative dreams or just want to live a creative life, but don't know where to start. In this workshop you will spend the day exploring ways to make creativity a part of your everyday life, whether you want to be more creative in your business, your art or in your day to day living. You will discover ways to overcome your inner critic and learn practical ways of making it easier to be creative on a regular basis. Artist Trading Cards ![]() Notes to Myself: Exploring Our Symbolic Language through Visual Journaling Why are we attracted to certain things? I find I can't pass a doorway or a path without wanting to get my camera out. Why is this? What do doorways and pathways symbolize to me? Am I even aware of where my attention is drawn? Are these images that speak to me a dialogue between my conscious and unconscious mind? By using images as building blocks to create a Journal of "Notes to Myself", you will be guided in exploring the things we are drawn to and the meaning of their symbolic language. The journal will be a container for exploration of our images. Through written exercises we will discover more about why we use them in our art. The journal we create can then serve as an ongoing "portal of inspiration" and a place to record the things we want to express in the art we make. |
